About

Empowered Healing

I help people navigate ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions with compassion and practical strategies. As a mixed African American and Asian man raised by my grandmother—after my mother, who was adopted from Korea at age five, and not knowing my father—I intimately understand the impact of family complexity, loss, and identity on mental health. Early legal troubles forced me to face my own trauma and take responsibility for my well-being, which inspires the empathetic, human-centered approach I bring to therapy. My style is warm, collaborative, and focused on helping you feel seen and understood while providing tools that work in real life. I believe in empowering clients beyond the limits of a diagnosis. While a diagnosis can offer clarity, it does not define your potential. I take a humanistic approach, focusing on your strengths, values, and capacity for growth rather than only on symptoms. I use evidence-based approaches like CBT and DBT to support emotional regulation, executive functioning, focus, and healthy coping skills. Together, we’ll explore patterns, process past experiences, and create new strategies that fit your life and goals. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in child welfare, community mental health, and program development, learning firsthand how early experiences and environments shape us—and how healing is always possible. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor’s in Social Work (Honors) from Grand Valley State University. If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d be honored to support you. Let’s work together to help you feel more grounded, confident, and in control of your life!
